The new fundamental study on early watches.

„Zeit Haben“ is outlining the history of the earliest portable timepieces based on the preserved examples. It brings together almost all preserved specimens from before 1550 that could justifiably be called a ‚watch’. Several are shown with groundbreaking 3D computer tomography images that allow for unprecedented views into the movements – accompanied by photographs showing partly disassembled pieces for direct comparison.

Comprehensive

Further topics are all types of ‚accessories’ of those early watches: alarm ‚apps’, winding keys, cases, hands and contemporary paintings.

A supplementary section examines the known archival sources on early spring-driven ‚portable’ timepieces around Europe
